Hajo G. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. (University of Amsterdam), [] is Assistant Professor for Political Communication at the Amsterdam School of Communications Research, Department of Communication Science, University of Amsterdam. His research focuses on media effects on political cognitions, attitudes and behavior. Recently he was awarded a VENI grant from the Dutch science foundation for a research project on news media and political populism (Media(ted) Populism: Properties and Consequences). He has published on matters of media and European integration, European and German election campaigning, and media, immigration issues and extreme-right parties in international journals such as European Union Politics, European Journal of Political Research, Journal of European Public Policy, Communication Research, Journal of Common Market Studies, or European Journal of Communication.
