Rens Vliegenthart


Rens Vliegenthart is an assistant professor of political communication in the department of Communication Science and at the Amsterdam School of Communications Research (ASCoR), University of Amsterdam. His research interests include election campaigns, media effects, populism and social movements. In 2007, he completed his Ph.D. on the immigration debate in the Netherlands at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (cum laude).
In 2005-2006 he was a Fulbright visiting scholar in the department of Sociology, University of California, Ivine.
Recent articles have appeared in among others the European Journal of Communication, International Journal of Public Opinion Research, Social Forces and West European Politics.
