Rens Vliegenthart

Rens VliegenthartRens Vliegenthart is a Professor in Communication Science (chair in Media and Organizations) in the department of Communication Science and at the Amsterdam School of Communications Research (ASCoR), University of Amsterdam. His research interests  media-politics relations, media coverage of social movements and businesses, election campaigns, European integration, soccer hooliganism and time series analysis.In 2007, he completed his Ph.D. on the immigration debate in the Netherlands at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (cum laude). In 2005-2006 he was a Fulbright visiting scholar in the department of Sociology, University of California, Irvine and in 2009-2010 a visiting associate professor in the department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark.

Rens is co-chair of the political communication division of the Netherlands Flanders Communication Association (NEFCA). Recently, he got appointed as a member of the Young Academy of the Dutch Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences. Recent articles have appeared in among others the European Journal of Communication, International Journal of Press/Politics, European Journal of Political Research and Communication Research.
