Sjoerd Stolwijk

DSC_1210Sjoerd Stolwijk is a PhD candidate in Political Communication at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR). In his project “The campaign effect of affect: Examining the feedback loop between affective media content and vote intentions during election campaigns”, he studies how emotional media messages influence the emotions of voters and their vote intentions over time. The project combines content analysis and survey data of the 2010 British elections, 2013 German elections and 2014 elections to the European Parliament, as well as a mock election experiment. Sjoerd’s supervisors are Dr. Andreas Schuck and Prof.dr. Claes de Vreese.

Before joining ASCoR, he studied Political Science at Leiden University, and Policy, Communication and Organization at VU University Amsterdam. He has a rather broad research interest ranging from international relations theory to social movements and corporate social responsibility.
