Sanne (PI), Sophie Lecheler, Katharine Dommett, Rachel Gibson, Jörg Matthes, Lukas Otto, and Claes de Vreese will study if and how data-driven campaigns using online microtargeting techniques are a threat to democracy.
The NORFACE application “THREATPIE: The Threats and Potentials of a Changing Political Information Environment” from the NEPOCS (nepocs.eu) network was successful. Claes is one of the core applicants. The project involves cross-national data collection and four positions in different countries, including a postdoc, spending time in both Antwerp and Amsterdam.

Damian will focus on the Communication in the Digital Society strategic initiative, combining research and teaching activities. Together with Theo Aroujo, Damian will set up an internal infrastructure to accelerate digital research within ASCoR in partnership with the Digital Communication Methods Lab.
