Bernd Schlipphak, University of Muenster, will be visiting the communication department at the UvA from January 15 to February 8, 2018. While staying in Amsterdam, he focuses on two projects. Firstly, he analyzes the (contrasting) effects of elite vs. popular cues on citizens’ international attitudes in (non-)authoritarian settings. Secondly, he will work on a grant proposal that explores necessary conditions for (successful) blaming strategies of populist and radical elites. Both projects fit well into his overall research interest of the Center for Politics and Communication in connecting elite communication (about international-level topics) to citizens’ attitudes. Welcome, Bernd!
