Doris Bukman

PhD Candidate

Doris Bukman is a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR). Her research focuses on the consequences of ownership concentration for  journalists, audiences and journalism generally, with a focus on the Netherlands. She is especially interested in how journalists negotiate and understand their own autonomy while navigating market pressures. In her research she applies both quantitative as well as qualitative methods. Doris holds an MSc in Applied Data Science (Utrecht University) as well as an MA in Media, Culture and Society (Erasmus University), and a BSc in Governance, Economics and Development (Leiden University College).
