dr. Linda Bos

Associate Professor

Linda Bos (PhD, University of Amsterdam, 2012) is Associate Professor and Program Group Leader of Political Communication and Journalism. Linda is an expert in the broad field of populist political communication, studying the role of communication in the success of populist (radical right) parties. Her broader research line centres on the relation between political elites, media and voters, focusing on the content and effects of political communication for democracy. Linda is a member of both the DigiWorld and the CamforS teams, studying national digital election campaigning worldwide and at the European elections. Linda was a Management Committee Member of the COST action on Populist Political Communication in Europe (2014-2018), and currently a Core Group member of the COST action on Linking Euroscepticism and Populism. Linda received the NESCoR dissertation award 2012 and the European Journal of Communication 2014 Top Article Award. Linda is the recipient of an SSH NWO-M grant to study how the moral language of politicians and journalists guides citizens. Linda published 40+ articles in journals such as Communication Research, Political Communication, International Journal of Press/Politics, Political Psychology, Party Politics, European Journal of Political Research, and Political Studies.
