Latest travels and talks

Last week, Mark Boukes, Katjana Gattermann, Sanne Kruikemeier and Franziska Marquart attended the ECREA Journalism Studies Conference at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense to present their current work. In the following days Katjana gave talks on mediated personalization of EU politics at Roskilde University and the University of Copenhagen. She and Sanne Kruikemeier will also be attending a workshop on the “Personalization of Politics” at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, next week.

Last week, Michael Hameleers and Claes de Vreese participated in the conference and meeting of the COST Action “Populist Political Communication in Europe” in Paris. The visit included a presentation by Claes and the COST core team in the French Senate on populism and a presentation by Michael on a cross-national experiment.

On Wednesday, 22 March, Damian Trilling gave a talk at Social Media Club Utrecht on “Verkiezingsmythes: Over de rol van social media”. On Monday this week, Damian took part in a discussion panel on filter bubbles and algorithmic news selection at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam. Damian was also interviewed by De Volkskrant about filter bubbles on Facebook, and was talking about the Dutch elections on German radio.
