Penelope Sheets, Ph.D. (University of Washington) is an Assistant Professor of Political Communication at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research, Department of Communication Science, University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on the use of group identity in political messages and news coverage, and its effects on public opinion. She has a particular focus on national, racial, and religious identities, and explores them through content analysis, survey research, and experimental methods. She has published on these issues in international journals including Political Communication, Political Psychology, Mass Communication and Society, and the Journal of Communication.
