Pytrik Schafraad is a lecturer in Political and Corporate Communication at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) at the University of Amsterdam.
He holds a PhD from the Radboud University, Nijmegen (2009). His dissertation is titled “Controversial Outsiders. A cross national study of media attention to the far right, 1986-2004”. This study investigates national differences and trends in the way newspapers portrayed the far right in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
His research interests involve social and political movements, sociology of news and journalism and framing theory.
At the University of Amsterdam he is teaching bachelor and master courses in journalism, government communication and content analysis.
