Moral Dilemmas in Politics: How Moral Conflict Shapes discourse and decision-making

PhD Candidate: Henrik Pröpper

In my PhD, I focus on the use and misuse of moral language in the foreign affairs. In the first project, we explored the role of cooperative moral rhetoric at the United Nations, examining the prevalence, universality, and politicization of moral values in foreign policy communication. In the other projects, we investigate the moralization of strategic communication surrounding Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine; stuying (a) the moral component of cognitive warfare and (b) potential interventions to counter moral-propaganda.
