The Public Values in the Algorithmic Society (AlgoSoc) consortium examines how public values can be realized in a world increasingly shaped by Automated Decision Systems (ADS)and Artificial Inteligence (AI). While ADS & AI promise efficiency and improved services, they disrupt institutions, checks and balances, and shift decision-making power, raising urgent societal challenges. AlgoSoc responds by investigating the systemic changes ADS bring to justice, health, and media, focusing on how technology, institutions, human actors, and values interact. Its research explores theoretical foundations of public values, their translation into governance and legal frameworks, and their effects on individuals and society across sectors.
