PhD Candidate

Yara F. Mijnhout is a PhD candidate in Political Communication at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research. In her research, she investigates how media shape public understanding of political corruption across Europe. Her research focuses on three themes: how corruption is constructed in news discourse, how media reporting influences citizens’ perceptions and political engagement, and how investigative journalism and cross-border collaborations contribute to accountability by exposing transnational corruption.
