Zilin is a postdoctoral researcher at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR), affiliated with both the AI, Media & Democracy Lab and the Human(e) AI RPA. With a background in Computational Communication Science, her current research focuses on responsible AI and digital journalism. She also works with media partners such as DPG Media and Omroep ZWART to investigate diversity from the newsroom’s perspective. Before her postdoc, she completed her PhD as part of the NEWSFLOWS team at ASCoR, during which she studied the role of news users and their news consumption using data donations and online field experiments.
